Updated: June 2026

Choose between a Standard Free Play and High Score Save Kit or a Wi-Fi Enabled Kit with online score uploading and global leaderboard support. This guide explains the differences, setup process, online features, and what to expect before ordering.

Wi-Fi Enabled Kits save scores directly on your arcade cabinet and can also upload supported scores online for global, national, or local competition through the HighScoreSaves online leaderboard system.

  • Wi-Fi Enabled Kits save scores locally and add optional online score uploading.
  • Wi-Fi Enabled Kits can support global, national, local, or personal leaderboard competition depending on the game and kit.
  • Wi-Fi functionality cannot be added later to a Standard Kit.
  • Standard Kits do not include the required Wi-Fi hardware, oscillator, socket, or status LEDs.
  • There is no exchange or upgrade program for converting a Standard Kit to Wi-Fi later.
  • Wi-Fi Enabled Kits require a supported 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and correct setup information.
  • Your SK and PK keys can be reused across compatible HighScoreSaves Wi-Fi Enabled Kits.

What's a Wi-Fi Enabled Kit or Standard Kit?

Quick Overview -

Wi-Fi High Score Save Kits not only preserve your game’s scores on your machine but also take it a step further uploading them online for worldwide competition!

*NOTE - You are not able to add the online feature after the initial purchase as the socket, oscillator and connectivity LED lights for it will not be populated. There is no exchange program.

Information -

You can purchase the Wi-Fi version of the save kit that features the high score upload to our internet page - www.arcadehighscores.com [and your own personal web page that we provide for all your games]. You will be sent an email with a few questions once your order has shipped out.

Once you send back the answers from the email, you will receive a specific SK and PK Key and your website link that will unlock the Wi-Fi feature.

Your Wi-Fi save kit will have a WiFi Module [that you choose at purchase] that connects to the internet with your wireless router.

The Wi-Fi save kits will allow you to display high scores on your own web-based arcade score board [plus on your arcade game cabinet] and you can compare your high score against other players with our save kits globally, in your own country or just in your own game room!

  • The Wi-Fi Module will connect to your router using your mobile device. See below on instructions.

  • You can have multiple games with online capabilities on your network. Your PK and SK keys will be the same for all your WiFi Kits.

These Wi-Fi kits are selected in the store when you purchase with a drop-down selection box labeled "Make this WiFi Enabled to upload your scores?"

Once you have your games online, you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner!

Setup your new Wi-Fi Kit -

ENSURE YOU GO INTO THE KIT'S SETTINGS TO ENTER THE SK AND PK KEYS THAT WERE SENT TO YOU, AND SET IT TO ON-T. This needs to be done before setting up a brand-new save kit.

  1. Open you phone to the WiFi Settings

  2. Select [your kit's name] as the network [when prompted, select top option "Connect only this time"

  3. Open your browser and connect to 192.168.4.1

  4. You are now connected to the WiFi Manager

  5. Select your network name from the top [SSID] and enter your password

  6. Then, hit SAVE. [Ensure you type your password correctly or it will not sync to your network]

  7. You should see these screens - "Saving Credentials. Trying to connect ESP to network. If it fails, reconnect to try again"

  8. When successful, it will simply state "Saved"

That's it!

Now it will take up to 1 minute to connect to your wireless network and the game will start the attract screen or menu depending on your save kit.

If this did not connect, verify your password and SSID are correct and try again.

You can reset this Wi-Fi module by holding down the reset button on the Wi-Fi module for 5 seconds [with your game powered on] and connect to a new network or reenter your credentials.

Enjoy!

TROUBLE SHOOTING TIPS

On your monitor messages -

DHCP REQUEST

  • Initialization status, this is good.

DHCP OK

(This message is fast, so, sometimes the "DHCP OK" can not be seen)

DHCP ERROR A / DHCP ERROR F (alternately)

  • Wi-Fi module couldn't connect to the saved access point and went to "setup-mode" [module goes into access point mode that customer can setup his network]

- OR -

  • Wi-Fi module isn't set up to the access point yet and module is in access point mode that customer can setup his network

[when Wi-Fi module is in access point mode, customer has 10 minutes to set up his network. In this time, the green and the red led on the save kit PCB are flashing alternatively]

DNS ERROR A / DNS ERROR D (Alternating)

  • WLAN is connected, module tries to connect to arcadehighscores.com and gets an error message in response.

This can be either due wrong PK/SK or customer isn't set up in database yet or customer is not allowed to send scores [when error, the red led on the save kit PCB is flashing very fast for about 1 second]
