Darksoft ST-V Multigame Kits and Compatibility

The Dark Knight Edition installs directly onto four keyed connectors on a compatible original Sega ST-V, also known as Sega Titan, motherboard. It does not install in the standard ST-V game-cartridge slot. Supported games are loaded from microSD through an LCD or OLED selector and written to flash memory, where the selected game remains until another title is written.

Confirm ST-V Compatibility and Requirements

• Requires a working original Sega ST-V arcade motherboard.
• Remove any terminator PCB installed in the motherboard connector area before fitting the multigame board.
• The multigame board attaches to four keyed motherboard connectors rather than the standard game-cartridge slot.
• A compatible SDHC microSD card formatted as FAT32 is required and is not included. The installation guide states that SDXC cards are not supported.
• Game files must be prepared in the folder structure documented in the installation guide. Game software is not supplied with the kit.
• The included LCD selector or a compatible optional OLED selector can be used to choose games. Both selectors may be connected at the same time.
• A region-capable ST-V ModBIOS is not required, but it is recommended because some supported games operate only in particular regions.

Installation and Optional Wiring

The four multigame-board connectors are keyed, but every connector must be aligned before pressure is applied. Support the underside of the ST-V motherboard during installation to avoid flexing or damaging the original hardware.

• An optional auto-reset wire can be soldered to Pin 8 of IC12. Without this connection, the ST-V system must be power-cycled after selecting and writing a different game.
• An optional audio wire can be connected to the audio amplifier to play customizable start and finish sounds over the JAMMA audio output while a game is being written.
• The optional programming sounds do not play through an external stereo setup when the cabinet is not using JAMMA audio.
• The Dark Knight Edition includes a connector for a compatible genuine or reproduction Batman Forever sound board.
• Optional soldering should be performed only by someone experienced with fine arcade-PCB work.

Game Selection and Flash Storage

Select a supported title from the microSD card with the connected LCD or OLED display. Two status LEDs illuminate while the game is being written, and one remains lit when the process is complete. The selected game remains stored in flash memory after power is removed.
