Darksoft ST-V Dark Knight Edition Multigame Kit Overview
The Darksoft ST-V Dark Knight Edition Multigame Kit allows supported games to run on compatible original Sega ST-V, also known as Sega Titan, arcade hardware.
Unlike a standard ST-V game cartridge, the Dark Knight Edition installs directly onto four keyed connectors on the original ST-V motherboard. Games are selected from a compatible microSD card with the included LCD selector or an optional OLED selector and written to flash memory.
The selected game remains stored after power is removed and stays loaded until another title is selected and written.
Compatibility and Requirements
- Requires a working original Sega ST-V arcade motherboard.
- Requires a working arcade cabinet or compatible supergun setup.
- Any terminator PCB installed in the motherboard connector area must be removed before installing the multigame board.
- A genuine, good-quality SDHC microSD card is required and is not included.

Dark Knight Edition Design
Four-Connector Motherboard Installation
The multigame board attaches directly to four keyed connectors on the ST-V motherboard. It does not install in the standard ST-V game-cartridge slot.
Flash-Based Game Storage
The selected game is written to flash memory and remains stored after power is removed. A new write occurs only when another game is selected.
LCD and OLED Game Selectors
The included traditional LCD selector connects to the 14-pin selector header. A compatible optional OLED selector connects to the 10-pin header and can display game images. Either selector can operate alone, or both can be connected and used together.
Batman Forever Sound-Board Connector
The Dark Knight Edition includes a connector for a compatible genuine or reproduction Batman Forever sound board used for that game’s stereo audio.
Installing the Multigame Board
- Disconnect all power before removing or handling the ST-V motherboard.
- Discharge static before handling the original motherboard or multigame board.
- Remove any terminator PCB installed in the connector area.
- Position the multigame board directly above all four motherboard connectors.
- The connectors are keyed, but all four must be fully aligned before pressure is applied.
- Support the underside of the original ST-V motherboard during installation to prevent excessive flexing.
- Press gently and evenly at each connector until the multigame board is fully seated.
- Never force the board onto a connector that is not correctly aligned.
Important Connector Warning
Confirm that the multigame board is aligned with all four motherboard connectors before pressing it into place. Support the original motherboard from underneath and use only gentle, even pressure.
Optional Auto-Reset Wire
The optional auto-reset connection allows the ST-V system to reset after a different game is written.
- One included DuPont wire is soldered to Pin 8 of IC12 on the original ST-V motherboard.
- The other end connects to the multigame board’s reset connection.
- Without this optional connection, the system must be power-cycled after a new game is loaded.
Pin 8 of IC12 can be damaged by excessive heat or incorrect soldering. This connection should be completed only by someone experienced with precise arcade-PCB soldering.
Optional Start and Finish Audio
An optional audio wire allows customized sounds to play through the JAMMA audio output when game programming begins and ends.
- The audio wire is soldered to Pin 13 of the motherboard audio amplifier.
- The other end connects to the multigame board’s audio connection.

start.wavandend.wavfiles stored in the microSD card’ssoundsfolder. - These loading sounds play through JAMMA audio.
- They do not play through a separate stereo-audio setup that bypasses the JAMMA audio output.
This wire is optional and should be installed only by someone experienced with arcade-PCB soldering.
LCD and OLED Selector Setup
Traditional LCD Selector
Connect the traditional LCD selector to the multigame board’s 14-pin selector header. The nearby potentiometer adjusts the LCD screen brightness.
Optional OLED Selector
Connect a compatible OLED selector to the 10-pin header. The OLED can
display game images when the correct logo.bin file is
included in the individual game folder.
Using Both Selectors
The LCD and OLED selectors can be connected at the same time. Both displays update together when browsing or loading a game.
Preparing the microSD Card
Card Type and Format
Use a genuine branded SDHC microSD card formatted as FAT32. The installation guide states that SDXC cards are not compatible and recommends smaller-capacity cards when practical.
Game Folder Structure
Place individual game directories inside a folder named
games at the root of the microSD card. Each game folder
uses a name file to define the title shown on the selector.
OLED Images
An optional logo.bin file can be placed in each game folder
to display an image on the OLED selector. The guide specifies a source
image size of 128 × 56 pixels before conversion.
File Naming
Required game-file extensions must contain two characters, such as
.04 rather than .4. Some files may also
require the conversion described in the installation guide.

macOS users should remove hidden files created on removable media by
following the dot_clean instructions in the installation
guide.
Selecting and Loading a Game
Select a Game
Insert the prepared microSD card, power on the ST-V system, and choose a supported title with the connected LCD or OLED selector.
Programming Status
Two status LEDs illuminate while a game is being written. When programming is complete, one LED remains illuminated.
Flash Persistence
The selected game remains stored in flash memory after the system is powered off. It is replaced only when another game is selected and written.
Optional ST-V ModBIOS
A region-capable ST-V ModBIOS is not required, but the installation guide recommends it because some supported games operate only in specific regions.
Installing a ModBIOS requires programming and replacing the motherboard’s 27C400 BIOS EPROM. This modification should be performed only by someone familiar with ST-V hardware and EPROM replacement.
Firmware Updates
To install a supported firmware update, place the update file named
flash.img in the root of the prepared microSD card and power
on the multigame system.
The status LED changes its flashing pattern while the update is being written. Do not interrupt power or remove the microSD card until the update has finished and the required waiting period in the installation guide has passed.
