Choosing the Correct Xevious Arcade PCB Upgrade
Xevious was produced on documented original Namco and Atari hardware configurations, and the installation guide identifies different component locations for those versions. Do not assume the Z80 location is identical between boards.
Before ordering, identify the exact original PCB configuration, locate the documented Z80 processor, verify that location is properly socketed, and inspect the surrounding board area for clearance, previous repairs, damaged sockets, or other conditions that could affect installation.

Z80 Processor and Socket Requirements
Socketed vs. Soldered Z80 Installation
No soldering is required for normal kit installation when the required Z80 location already has a compatible 40-pin socket.
If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before the kit can be fitted. Processor removal and socket installation should be performed by someone experienced with arcade PCB soldering and component removal.
Daughter Card Clearance and Orientation
ROM Saver and Original Program ROMs
The Xevious kit supports ROM Saver operation. The HighScoreSaves hardware can provide the supported program code while the original Xevious PCB remains the core game platform.
Designated original program ROMs may optionally be removed as documented. Follow the installation guide for the exact supported ROM configuration rather than removing ROMs based only on their physical location.
