The Darksoft MVS cartridge uses flash memory and DDR memory to hold up to three games simultaneously. A single-slot MVS motherboard can operate with three virtual game slots, while supported multi-slot MVS systems can also use the cartridge. Games are selected and managed through the cartridge’s on-screen menu.

• Supports single-slot and multi-slot MVS configurations.

• Confirm that the MVS motherboard works correctly with a standard cartridge before installing the multigame cartridge.
• Inspect and clean the motherboard cartridge contacts when necessary.
• Check the motherboard battery if you intend to retain game settings, high scores, and other backup-RAM information.
• Insert or remove the cartridge only while the MVS system is powered off.
• A compatible microSD card is required and is not included.

Game Loading and Virtual Slots

Supported game files are stored in a games folder on the microSD card. The menu allows games to be added to or removed from three virtual slots. Each selected game remains assigned to its slot after the system is powered off, and only changed game data must be rewritten when a different title is selected.

• Up to three games can be loaded into the cartridge at the same time.
• QuickLaunch can load a selected title into Slot 1 and start it directly.
• The menu can display games as a text list or with thumbnail images.
• Boot options include the first available game, the game list, or the complete cartridge menu.
• Game changes are programmed after exiting the menu through the provided exit-and-program option.

MVS Settings and Score Storage

On MVS hardware, the cartridge menu can manage original game SoftDIP settings, system region, MVS or AES operating mode, and backup-RAM data. Neo Geo MVS backup RAM has limited capacity, so the cartridge can back up displaced game information to the microSD card when new games are installed.
