How the Carnival Socketed Z80 Installation Works
The Carnival upgrade requires access to the original Sega/Gremlin arcade PCB and a Z80 CPU installed in a compatible 40-pin socket.
When the Z80 is already socketed, normal installation does not require soldering. If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a qualified arcade technician must remove the CPU and install a compatible 40-pin socket before the kit can be used.
Before restoring cabinet power, verify Pin 1 orientation, processor alignment, processor pins, socket condition, board seating, and any designated program-ROM locations identified in the Carnival installation guide.
