Choosing the Correct Crossbow Arcade PCB Upgrade
A Crossbow cabinet, marquee, gun assembly, or control hardware does not by itself confirm compatibility. Exidy 440 machines may have been converted, repaired, or configured to run different supported titles, so the actual CPU and sound boards should be identified before ordering.
Crossbow is supported through the HighScoreSaves Exidy 440 Multigame Free Play and High Score Save Kit. There is no separate Crossbow-only HighScoreSaves kit. The upgrade works with documented compatible original Exidy 440 arcade hardware.

How the Crossbow Exidy 440 Installation Works
The Exidy 440 upgrade works with both the original CPU PCB and sound PCB. The board stack is separated so the required processors, ROMs, PROMs, and daughter cards can be installed at their documented locations.
On the CPU board, designated EPROMs are removed, the 6809E processor is transferred to the kit, and the required PROMs are moved as directed. The main daughter card is then installed into the documented sockets.
On the sound board, the 6809 processor and designated EPROMs are removed. The sound daughter card and 6809 daughter card are installed, and the supplied ribbon cable connects the two assemblies.
