Venture 6502 Processor Requirements
Socketed vs. Soldered 6502 Installation
Normal plug-in installation requires the 6502 processor location to already use a suitable compatible 40-pin socket.
If the 6502 is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before the kit can be fitted. Installing a CPU socket is a PCB modification and should be performed by someone experienced with arcade-board soldering and component removal.
ROM Saver and Original Program ROMs
Venture supports ROM Saver functionality, allowing documented original program ROMs to be removed if desired while the HighScoreSaves kit provides the supported game program.
Follow the installation documentation before removing any original ROMs. Label and store original components carefully so they remain available for future troubleshooting, restoration, or return to the original configuration.
High Score Saving and Lives-Based Score Tables
The compatible Venture upgrade permanently saves the Top 5 supported high scores using serial EEPROM storage rather than batteries or NVRAM.
Separate supported high score tables are maintained for 2, 3, 4, and 5 lives. Backup and Restore functionality also provides a way to preserve supported score data before service work, transport, events, or other maintenance.
Attract Sound Settings
Supported Venture attract sounds can be configured at 25%, 50%, or 100% intervals. This allows the cabinet owner to control how often audio plays while the game is in attract mode.
Upright and Cocktail Cabinet Compatibility
