Original Bally Midway Hardware Requirements
Z80 Processor and 40-Pin Socket Requirements
Socketed vs. Soldered Z80 Installation
No soldering is required for normal installation when the required Z80 location already has a proper compatible 40-pin socket.
If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before the kit can be fitted. CPU removal and socket installation should be performed by someone experienced with arcade-board soldering and component removal.
Program, ROM, RAM and Memory-Board Configuration
Installing either upgrade changes portions of the original Program/ROM/RAM or memory-board arrangement. Supported program code is supplied through the HighScoreSaves kit, allowing designated original program hardware to be removed or bypassed as documented.
Graphics RAM boards remain installed where required. Follow the exact installation guide for the product selected and use the documented board-stack positions rather than assuming the dedicated and multigame configurations are identical.
Dedicated Wizard of Wor Compatibility
Choose the dedicated kit when the goal is to preserve a single-game Wizard of Wor cabinet while adding permanent score storage and supported operator conveniences.
