Carnival Free Play and High Score Save Kit for original Sega Gremlin arcade PCB

The HighScoreSaves Carnival Free Play and High Score Save Kit upgrades a documented compatible original Sega/Gremlin Carnival arcade PCB with Free Play, permanent high score saving, real attract sounds, menu-driven settings, Backup and Restore, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support while retaining the original arcade hardware and gameplay.

Compatible PCB: Documented compatible original Sega/Gremlin Carnival arcade PCB

CPU: Z80

CPU Requirement: Compatible Z80 processor required; transfer the original socketed Z80 or select a compatible processor option

Socket: Compatible 40-pin CPU socket required

Soldering: Not required when the original Z80 is already socketed

Installation Location: Documented Z80 CPU position

Cabinet Support: Documented upright and cocktail configurations

Installation: Plug-in installation when the original Z80 is already socketed. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a qualified arcade technician must install a compatible 40-pin socket before the kit can be used.

Standard vs. Wi-Fi Kit

Standard Kit

Saves supported scores, settings, and configuration data locally on the installed Carnival arcade PCB. No internet connection is required.

Wi-Fi Enabled Kit

Includes the same local features and can also submit qualifying completed scores to the HighScoreSaves online leaderboard.

Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving, Free Play, menu settings, Backup and Restore, ROM Saver operation, or normal gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

How do I enter the Carnival kit settings menu?

Hold Player 1 Start for approximately 4 seconds while turning on the cabinet. Release the button when the on-screen prompt tells you to continue.

How many Carnival high scores are saved?

The kit displays the Top 3 supported scores on-screen and stores up to 30 total scores using battery-free serial EEPROM.

Can Carnival attract sounds be adjusted?

Yes. The kit adds authentic gameplay sounds during attract mode and supports 25%, 50%, or 100% attract sound frequency settings.

Will the Wi-Fi kit still save scores if Wi-Fi is disabled?

Yes. Local score saving, Free Play, Coin-Up operation, menu settings, Backup and Restore, ROM Saver functionality, and normal gameplay continue to work when Wi-Fi is disabled or unavailable.
