Upgrade a compatible original Namco or Atari Xevious arcade PCB with permanent Top 5 high score saving, Free Play, selectable initials options, on-screen settings, built-in diagnostic tools, Backup and Restore, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support.

This HighScoreSaves kit is designed for original Xevious arcade hardware using a Z80 processor. It adds score-saving and service features while continuing to use the original arcade PCB, controls, sound, timing, and gameplay hardware.

What the Xevious High Score Save Kit Adds

The Xevious Free Play and High Score Save Kit adds modern score-saving, configuration, and diagnostic features to compatible original arcade hardware without replacing the Xevious PCB with a multicade computer or unrelated emulation platform.

In addition to permanent score saving and Free Play, the kit provides selectable initials and copyright options, menu-driven DIP settings, separate score tables, Backup and Restore, ROM Saver functionality, monitor and RAM diagnostics, input testing, and optional online leaderboard support.

Compatibility and What to Check Before Ordering

• PCB: Designed for documented compatible original Namco and Atari Xevious arcade hardware.
• Processor: Requires a Z80 processor.
• Processor Socket: The required Z80 location must have a compatible 40-pin socket for normal kit installation.
• Cabinets: Supports upright and cocktail Xevious cabinets.
• Free Play Note: Player 1 and Player 2 Start buttons do not illuminate while Free Play mode is active.

Inspect your Xevious PCB before ordering. If the required Z80 processor is soldered directly to the board, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before fitting the kit.

Choose Your Xevious Kit Configuration

Select either a Standard Save Kit or a Wi-Fi Enabled Kit when ordering.

Standard Save Kit

Saves scores locally and includes the core Free Play, Top 5 score saving, initials options, menu-driven settings, diagnostics, Backup and Restore, separate score tables, and ROM Saver functionality.

Wi-Fi Enabled Kit

Includes the same local high score and diagnostic features and adds compatible online leaderboard functionality.

Settings Menu Access

Kit configuration is accessed using the cabinet's Player 1 Start button.

• Open the Settings Menu: Power the cabinet off, hold the Player 1 Start button, power the cabinet back on, and release the button when prompted.

Top 5 Scores and Initials Options

The Xevious kit permanently stores the Top 5 supported high scores. Initials entry changes depending on the selected copyright presentation.

• HighScoreSaves Copyright: Supports 3-character initials.
• Namco Copyright: Supports up to 10-character initials.

Xevious Diagnostic and Setup Tools

The Xevious kit includes several built-in tools that can help with cabinet adjustment, testing, and troubleshooting.

Cross Hatch

Displays a built-in pattern for monitor geometry and alignment adjustments.

RAM Test

Provides integrated memory testing for supported diagnostic use.

Input Test

Provides a way to test supported cabinet controls and game inputs.

Direct Self-Test Access

Supported self-test functions can be accessed directly through the kit menu or configured DIP switch options.

Installation Notes

• Z80 Processor Required: The kit requires a compatible Z80 processor on the original Xevious hardware.
• Socketed CPU Required: The required processor location must have a compatible 40-pin socket.
• No Soldering on a Properly Socketed PCB: If the processor location is already properly socketed, no soldering is required for normal kit installation.
• Unsocketed PCB: If the required Z80 is soldered directly to the board, a 40-pin socket must be installed before fitting the kit.
• Free Play Start-Button Note: Player 1 and Player 2 Start buttons do not illuminate while Free Play mode is active.
• Orientation Matters: Follow the installation guide carefully and verify CPU and kit orientation before powering the cabinet.

Optional Wi-Fi and Online High Scores

Choose the Wi-Fi Enabled version if you want your compatible Xevious cabinet to add online leaderboard functionality in addition to saving scores locally.

Wi-Fi Enabled kits use a compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The Standard kit does not require an internet connection for gameplay, Free Play, configuration, diagnostics, or local high score storage.
