The HighScoreSaves Tempest | Tempest Tubes Multigame Free Play and High Score Save Kit upgrades compatible original Atari Tempest arcade hardware with Tempest and Tempest Tubes, permanent Top 8 high score saving with initials, Free Play, attract sounds, expanded level selection, menu-driven settings, Backup and Restore, ROM Saver, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support while retaining the original PCB, controls, and vector arcade system.
Tempest Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when the original 6502 processor is already socketed. If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before the kit can be fitted.
Game Selection & Settings Menu Access
Select a Game: During attract mode, hold Player 1 Start for approximately 4 seconds to enter the game-selection menu and choose Tempest or Tempest Tubes.
Open the Settings Menu: Turn the cabinet off, hold Player 1 Start, turn the cabinet back on, and release the button when prompted.

Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local functionality and adds supported online score submission to the HighScoreSaves leaderboard platform.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving or normal gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

Which arcade PCB is required?
The kit is designed for compatible original Atari Tempest arcade PCBs.
Which games are included?
Tempest and Tempest Tubes.
Which processor is required?
A compatible 6502 processor is required. The compatible original processor may be used, or an optional compatible replacement processor may be selected when ordering.
Does installation require soldering?
No soldering is required when the Tempest PCB already has the proper compatible 40-pin socket at the 6502 location. If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a socket must be installed first.
How many high scores are saved?
The kit permanently stores the Top 8 supported high scores with initials.
Can I select a starting level?
Yes. Supported starting-level selection extends through level 81 and provides a 60-second selection period.
How do I select Tempest or Tempest Tubes?
During attract mode, hold Player 1 Start for approximately four seconds to enter the game-selection menu.
Does it work in upright and cocktail Tempest cabinets?
Yes. Both documented upright and cocktail Tempest cabinet configurations are supported.
Will the Wi-Fi version still save scores without Wi-Fi?

Tempest Kit
As with all of my games, this was one of the first things I do when I add a game to my collection. High score saves, free play and attract mode/sounds, plus the addition of Tempest Tubes! A must have for any Tempest owner!

Great kit adding new Tempest levels with the Tubes addition. Very easy to install and use.
