Stratovox High Score Saving and Free Play
The kit stores the Top 5 Stratovox scores with player initials using serial EEPROM storage, so no battery is required to retain saved high scores when the cabinet is powered off.
Free Play allows Stratovox to start without inserting coins while normal Coin-Up operation remains available for cabinets that continue to use coins, tokens, or the original coin-door controls.
On-Screen Settings, ROM Saver, and Score Tables
Supported gameplay and operator settings can be adjusted through the kit's on-screen menu, reducing the need to repeatedly access the PCB or cabinet for common configuration changes.
ROM Saver allows designated original program ROMs to be removed when the kit is installed according to the Stratovox installation guide.
Separate supported high-score tables are available for 2, 3, and 4 lives settings so scores earned under different lives configurations remain independent.
Stratovox Installation Requirements
- Original PCB: Designed for documented compatible original Taito Stratovox arcade PCBs
- Z80 Processor: The documented Z80 CPU location must use a compatible 40-pin socket
- Already Socketed: No soldering, trace cutting, special wiring, or permanent PCB modification is required when the Z80 location is already properly socketed
- Soldered Z80: If the original processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before fitting the kit
- Z80 Installation: Remove the original Z80 from the PCB and install it on the HighScoreSaves daughterboard as shown in the installation guide
- ROM Saver: Remove only the designated program ROMs identified in the installation guide
- Before Power-Up: Confirm Pin 1 orientation, daughterboard seating, processor-pin alignment, socket condition, and clearance beneath the daughterboard
Standard Save Kit vs. Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
A Standard Save Kit stores supported Stratovox scores and settings locally on the arcade PCB. Wi-Fi is not required for normal gameplay, Free Play, Coin-Up operation, attract sounds, ROM Saver, Backup and Restore, separate score tables, or menu-driven settings.
A Wi-Fi Enabled Kit adds qualifying online score submission to the HighScoreSaves global leaderboard while retaining local score saving.
