Stratovox Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when the documented Z80 processor location is already properly socketed. No soldering, trace cutting, special wiring, or permanent PCB modification is required in that configuration. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before fitting the kit.
What This Kit Adds
Separate Stratovox High Score Tables
Stratovox keeps supported scores separated by lives configuration. Independent high-score tables are available for 2, 3, and 4 lives, allowing scores earned under different lives settings to remain separate.
Confirm Pin 1 orientation, daughterboard seating, processor-pin alignment, Z80 socket condition, clearance beneath the daughterboard, and any documented ROM Saver changes before applying cabinet power.
Standard vs. Wi-Fi Kit
Standard Kit
Stores supported Stratovox scores and settings locally and provides normal gameplay, Free Play, Coin-Up operation, attract sounds, ROM Saver, Backup and Restore, separate score tables, and menu-driven settings without requiring an internet connection.
Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local functionality and adds qualifying online score submission to the HighScoreSaves global leaderboard.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving or normal gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

Does this kit require an original Taito Stratovox PCB?
Yes. The kit is designed for documented compatible original Taito Stratovox arcade PCBs.
Does the Z80 processor need to be socketed?
Yes. The documented Z80 location must use a compatible 40-pin socket before the daughterboard can be installed.
Does installation require soldering?
No soldering is required when the documented Z80 location is already properly socketed. If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed first.
What happens to the original Z80?
The compatible Z80 is removed from the original PCB and installed on the HighScoreSaves daughterboard.
How many Stratovox high scores are saved?
The kit permanently stores the Top 5 supported Stratovox scores with player initials.
Can I use both Free Play and normal coin operation?
Yes. Free Play is supported while normal Coin-Up operation remains available for cabinets using coins or tokens.
Does Stratovox use separate high-score tables?
Yes. Independent supported high-score tables are available for 2-, 3-, and 4-life settings.
What does Attract Mode Protection do?
It helps reduce prolonged static-image display during supported attract operation.
Does the kit support ROM Saver?
Yes. Designated original program ROMs may be removed when the kit is installed according to the Stratovox installation guide.
