Space Panic Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when the original Z80 processor location is already properly socketed. No soldering, trace cutting, special wiring, or permanent PCB modification is required in that configuration. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before fitting the kit.

What This Kit Adds
Space Panic keeps supported scores separated by lives configuration. Lives settings 1 and 3 share one score table, while lives settings 2 and 5 share another.
Installation Checks Before Power-Up
Before applying cabinet power, confirm Pin 1 orientation, daughterboard seating, socket condition, designated ROM locations, processor-pin alignment, and clearance beneath the daughterboard.
Standard vs. Wi-Fi Kit
Standard Kit
Stores supported Space Panic scores and settings locally and provides normal gameplay, Free Play, Coin-Up operation, attract sounds, ROM Saver, Backup and Restore, separate score tables, and menu-driven settings without requiring an internet connection.
Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local functionality and adds qualifying online score submission to the HighScoreSaves global leaderboard.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving or normal gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

Does this kit require an original Universal Space Panic PCB?
Yes. The kit is designed for documented compatible original Universal Space Panic arcade PCBs.
Does the Z80 processor need to be socketed?
Yes. The documented Z80 processor location must use a compatible 40-pin socket before the daughterboard can be installed.
Does installation require soldering?
No soldering is required when the documented Z80 location is already properly socketed. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed first.
What happens to the original Z80?
