Silk Worm Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when the original Z80 location is already properly socketed. The existing compatible Z80 may be transferred to the HighScoreSaves daughter card or a compatible replacement may be used. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a suitable 40-pin socket must be installed first.

Silk Worm Settings Menu Access
Supported kit menus can be accessed by holding Player 1 Start during cabinet power-on. Stealth Mode allows the normal startup presentation to remain closer to the original game while retaining access to the kit menu.
What This Kit Adds
Two-player Silk Worm operation requires coin play. Two-player mode is not available while the cabinet is operating in Free Play mode.

Before applying cabinet power, verify Z80 Pin 1 orientation, daughter-card seating, processor-pin alignment, CPU socket condition, and clearance between the underside of the daughter card and nearby original PCB components or test points.
Standard vs. Wi-Fi Kit
Standard Kit
Stores supported Silk Worm scores and settings locally and provides normal gameplay, Free Play, Coin-Up operation, attract sounds, ROM Saver, Backup and Restore, lives-based score tables, God Mode, Flip Screen, and menu-driven settings without requiring an internet connection.
Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local functionality and adds qualifying online leaderboard score submission through the HighScoreSaves platform.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving or normal gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

Does this kit require an original Silk Worm PCB?
Yes. The kit is designed for documented compatible original Tecmo Silk Worm arcade PCBs.
Does the Z80 processor need to be socketed?
Yes. The documented Z80 processor location must use a suitable 40-pin socket before the daughter card can be installed.
Does installation require soldering?
No soldering, trace cutting, or special wiring is required when the documented Z80 location is already properly socketed. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a suitable 40-pin socket must be installed first.
How many Silk Worm high scores are saved?
The kit permanently saves the Top 10 supported scores with player initials.
Can I still use coins?
Yes. Coin-Up operation remains supported when normal coin or token play is desired.
Does two-player mode work in Free Play?
No. Two-player Silk Worm operation requires coin play and is not available while Free Play is active.
What is God Mode?
God Mode provides unlimited lives for practice or testing. High scores are not saved while God Mode is enabled.
Can the display be rotated?
Yes. Flip Screen rotates the Silk Worm display 180 degrees.
Does the kit support upright and cocktail cabinets?
Yes. The kit supports documented compatible upright and cocktail Silk Worm configurations.
What does ROM Saver do?
ROM Saver allows designated original program ROMs to be removed when the kit is installed according to the Silk Worm installation guide.
