The HighScoreSaves Scramble Free Play and High Score Save Kit upgrades compatible Scramble arcade hardware with permanent Top 10 high score saving, battery-free score storage, Free Play, separate lives-based score tables, attract sounds, menu-driven settings, Backup and Restore, ROM Saver functionality, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support while continuing to use the original arcade PCB.
Scramble Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when the original Z80 is already socketed. The compatible Z80 is removed from the Scramble PCB and installed on the HighScoreSaves daughter card, then the assembled daughter card installs into the original Z80 socket. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed first.
Scramble Settings Menu Access
With the game powered off, press and hold Player 1 Start. Turn the cabinet on while continuing to hold Player 1 Start, then release the button when prompted on screen.
The on-screen menu provides access to supported gameplay, score-saving, self-test, and kit configuration options without requiring routine adjustment of the physical PCB DIP switches.

Standard Kit
Stores supported Scramble scores and settings locally and provides normal gameplay, Free Play, menu access, score saving, ROM Saver, self-test access, and Backup and Restore without requiring an internet connection.
Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local functionality and adds qualifying online leaderboard score submission through the HighScoreSaves platform.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving or normal gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

Which arcade PCB does this Scramble kit use?
This dedicated kit is designed for compatible Scramble arcade PCB hardware and installs at the main Z80 processor location.
How many high scores are saved?
The kit permanently saves the Top 10 supported Scramble scores.
Why are there separate score tables?
Independent supported high score tables are maintained for 2-, 3-, and 4-life configurations so scores earned under different lives settings remain separate.
Are scores lost when the cabinet is turned off?
No. Supported high scores and settings are stored in serial EEPROM and remain saved without cabinet power.
Can I still use coins?
Yes. Free Play provides coin-free operation while traditional coin operation remains available when preferred.
Do I need to purchase a Z80?
No. A compatible existing Z80 may be reused. A compatible replacement processor is available as an optional selection when needed.
Does installation require soldering?

How do I open the settings menu?
