Roc 'n Rope Free Play and High Score Save Kit

Product information "Roc 'n Rope Free Play and High Score Save Kit"

Roc 'n Rope Free Play and High Score Save Kit for Konami Arcade PCB

Upgrade a compatible original Konami Roc 'n Rope arcade PCB with Free Play, permanent Top 5 high score saving, initials entry, 16 separate score tables, attract sounds, menu-driven settings, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support.

This HighScoreSaves kit uses a dedicated Konami1 adapter and 6809E daughter card. The original Konami1 processor is removed and stored, the supplied adapter installs at the original processor location, and a compatible 6809E processor operates from the HighScoreSaves daughter card.

The compatible original Roc 'n Rope PCB remains the operating arcade hardware. This is an original-PCB upgrade rather than a replacement JAMMA board, reproduction PCB, generic multicade, or software-emulation platform.

Choose Your Roc 'n Rope Kit Configuration

Choose a Standard Save Kit for local score and settings storage or a Wi-Fi Enabled Kit that also supports qualifying online leaderboard score submission.

A compatible 6809E processor is required on the HighScoreSaves daughter card. An existing compatible 6809E may be used, or a replacement processor may be selected when ordering.

Top 5 Scores and 16 Separate High Score Tables

Roc 'n Rope permanently saves the Top 5 scores with player initials using battery-free serial EEPROM storage.

The kit maintains 16 separate high score tables across the supported combinations of difficulty and lives settings. Scores earned under different supported game configurations are therefore kept in their appropriate tables rather than combined into one leaderboard.

Roc 'n Rope Settings Menu

With the cabinet powered off, press and hold Player 1 Start. Continue holding Player 1 Start while turning the cabinet on, then release the button when prompted on screen.

The settings menu provides access to supported game options, difficulty and lives settings, Free Play operation, score functions, Backup and Restore, and other kit-specific configuration options.

Konami1 Adapter and 6809E Daughter Card

Roc 'n Rope uses a different installation arrangement from HighScoreSaves kits that simply reuse an original 40-pin CPU. This kit includes both a Konami1 adapter and a dedicated 6809E daughter card.

The original Konami1 processor is carefully removed from the Roc 'n Rope PCB and stored safely. The supplied Konami1 adapter is then installed at the original processor location.

A compatible 6809E processor is installed on the HighScoreSaves daughter card, and the assembled daughter card installs on top of the Konami1 adapter. Correct Pin 1 orientation must be verified before cabinet power is restored.

Roc 'n Rope Installation Requirements

This kit is specifically designed for a compatible original Roc 'n Rope PCB. Verify that the existing game board is fully working before beginning installation. The kit is an upgrade for functioning hardware and is not intended to repair an existing PCB fault.

  • Required Base Hardware: Compatible original Konami Roc 'n Rope PCB
  • Original Processor: Locate and carefully remove the original Konami1 processor
  • Store Original Konami1: Keep the removed processor safely stored; it is not used while this upgrade is installed
  • Konami1 Adapter: Install the supplied adapter at the original Konami1 processor location
  • 6809E Requirement: Install a compatible 6809E processor on the HighScoreSaves daughter card
  • Processor Orientation: Verify Pin 1 orientation of the 6809E before installation
  • Daughter Card: Install the completed 6809E daughter card on top of the Konami1 adapter
  • Program ROMs: Original program ROM removal is optional; store removed ROMs safely and document their original locations

Roc 'n Rope ROM Saver

The HighScoreSaves daughter card supplies the supported game program functionality used by the kit. The original Roc 'n Rope program ROMs may therefore be removed if desired after successful installation.

Program ROM removal is optional. If the original ROMs are removed, store them safely and record their locations so the PCB can be returned to its previous configuration later if desired.

Standard Save Kit vs. Wi-Fi Enabled Kit

The Standard Save Kit stores supported scores and settings locally and does not require an internet connection for normal Roc 'n Rope gameplay, Free Play, Coin-Up operation, menu settings, score saving, or Backup and Restore.

The Wi-Fi Enabled Kit includes the same local functionality and adds qualifying online score submission to the HighScoreSaves leaderboard.
