Five Q*bert Family Games on One Original PCB

Q*bert

The original Gottlieb pyramid-jumping arcade game and the foundation of the Q*bert series.

Q*bert Qubes

The puzzle-focused sequel featuring rotating cubes and a different strategy from the original game.

FHMC Q*bert

Faster, Harder, More Challenging Q*bert provides a more demanding variation for experienced players.

Mello Yello Q*bert

A promotional Q*bert variation featuring alternate branding and presentation.

7-11 Q*bert

A promotional Q*bert variation featuring alternate graphics and artwork.

High Score Saving and Free Play

The kit stores supported high-score tables using serial EEPROM storage, so no battery is required to retain saved scores. Q*bert stores the Top 23 scores, while Q*bert Qubes stores the Top 20 scores.

Free Play allows supported games to start without inserting coins while normal Coin-Up operation remains available for cabinets that continue to use quarters, tokens, or the original coin-door controls.

Game Menu, Direct Boot, and On-Screen Settings

Configure the kit to start at the Q*bert Multigame menu or boot directly into any included title. Direct boot allows the cabinet to operate more like a dedicated single-game machine while retaining access to the other games when desired.

Supported gameplay and operator settings are available through on-screen menus, reducing the need to repeatedly open the cabinet for common configuration changes.

Q*bert Multigame Installation Requirements

  • Original PCB: Designed for documented compatible original Gottlieb Q*bert arcade PCBs
  • 8088 Processor: The documented 8088 CPU location must use a compatible 40-pin socket
  • Already Socketed: No soldering, trace cutting, special wiring, or permanent PCB modification is required when the processor location is already properly socketed
  • Soldered CPU: If the original 8088 is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before fitting the kit
  • ROM Saver: Remove only the designated program ROMs identified in the installation guide
  • Before Power-Up: Confirm Pin 1 orientation, daughterboard seating, socket condition, ROM locations, and processor-pin alignment

Standard Save Kit vs. Wi-Fi Enabled Kit

A Standard Save Kit stores supported scores and settings locally on the arcade PCB. Wi-Fi is not required for normal gameplay, Free Play, Coin-Up operation, the Game Menu, direct boot, ROM Saver, Backup and Restore, God Mode, or supported Qubes features.

A Wi-Fi Enabled Kit adds qualifying online score submission to the HighScoreSaves global leaderboard while retaining local score saving.
