Pengo Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when a compatible standard unencrypted Z80 is already installed in the required 40-pin socket. If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a qualified arcade technician must install a compatible 40-pin socket before the kit can be used.
Pengo Settings Menu Access
To access the settings menu, hold Player 1 Start while turning the cabinet on. Release the button when the on-screen prompt tells you to continue.

Standard Kit
Permanently saves supported scores locally and provides Free Play, Coin-Up support, attract sounds, menu-driven settings, ROM Saver, Backup and Restore, Reset Button support, separate score tables, and other documented local features without requiring an internet connection.
Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local features and adds qualifying online leaderboard score submission through the HighScoreSaves platform.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving or normal gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

Which arcade PCB does the Pengo kit support?
The kit is designed for documented compatible original Sega Pengo arcade PCBs.
What processor is required?
The kit requires a standard unencrypted Z80 processor.
Are encrypted Z80 processors compatible?
No. Encrypted Z80 processors are not compatible with this save kit.
Does installation require soldering?
No soldering is required when the documented Z80 processor location already has a compatible 40-pin socket. If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible socket must be installed first.
How many high scores does the Pengo kit save?
The kit permanently stores the Top 5 supported scores with player initials.
How do I access the Pengo settings menu?
