The HighScoreSaves Moon Cresta Free Play and High Score Save Kit upgrades documented compatible original Nichibutsu Moon Cresta / EAGLE-class arcade hardware with Free Play, permanent Top 5 score saving, battery-free serial EEPROM storage, adjustable attract sounds, menu-driven settings, ROM Saver functionality, Backup and Restore, separate lives-based score tables, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support while keeping the original arcade PCB in service.
Moon Cresta Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when the original Z80 is already socketed. If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a qualified arcade technician must install a compatible 40-pin socket before the kit can be used.

Standard vs. Wi-Fi Kit
Standard Kit
Permanently saves supported scores locally and provides Free Play, adjustable attract sounds, menu-driven settings, ROM Saver, Backup and Restore, separate score tables, and other documented local features without requiring an internet connection.
Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local features and adds online score syncing through the HighScoreSaves global leaderboard platform.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving or normal gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

Which hardware does the Moon Cresta kit support?
The kit works with documented compatible Moon Cresta / EAGLE-class arcade hardware.
Does the Moon Cresta kit require a socketed CPU?
Yes. A Z80 processor installed in a compatible 40-pin socket is required. If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible socket must be installed before setup.
How many high scores are saved?
The kit permanently stores the Top 5 supported high scores using serial EEPROM storage.
Does it support Free Play and Coin-Up?
Yes. Free Play and traditional Coin-Up operation are both supported.
Are Moon Cresta attract sounds adjustable?
Yes. Attract sounds can be configured for 25%, 50%, or 100% of attract-screen rotations.
Does the kit support Backup and Restore?
Yes. Saved high scores can be backed up and restored later.
Are separate score tables supported?
Yes. Separate score tables are supported for 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-lives settings.
Does the Moon Cresta kit support cocktail cabinets?
Yes. Documented compatible upright and cocktail cabinet configurations are supported.
Is Wi-Fi required?
No. Standard kits save supported scores locally. Wi-Fi is optional for online leaderboard score submission.

Great Moon Cresta Upgrade
Easy to install and works perfectly. High score saving and Free Play are great additions. A nice upgrade for any Moon Cresta cabinet.

Must have kit
Very happy that Highscoresaves makes kits for these classic arcade games. Ordered and received within a few days. Install guide is straight forward for an easy installation. The save kit works perfectly. Highly recommended!
