The HighScoreSaves Kangaroo Free Play and High Score Save Kit upgrades a compatible original Sun Electronics Kangaroo arcade PCB with Free Play, permanent Top 10 high score saving with initials, menu-driven settings, ROM Saver support, separate lives-based score tables, Fast Boot, God Mode practice, Flip Screen support, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard functionality while retaining the original arcade hardware and gameplay.
Kangaroo Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when the original Z80 is already socketed. If the Z80 processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a qualified arcade technician must install a compatible 40-pin socket before the kit can be used.

Standard vs. Wi-Fi Kit
Standard Kit
Saves supported scores locally to the arcade PCB and does not require an internet connection for gameplay, Free Play, menu settings, ROM Saver operation, Stealth Mode, Fast Boot, God Mode, Flip Screen, or local score saving.
Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local features and can also submit qualifying scores to the HighScoreSaves online leaderboard.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving or normal gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

Which processor does the Kangaroo kit require?
The kit requires a Z80 processor installed in a compatible 40-pin CPU socket.
Does installation require soldering?

How many high scores does the Kangaroo kit save?
The kit permanently stores the Top 10 supported high scores with player initials using battery-free serial EEPROM storage.
How do I enter the Kangaroo settings menu?
Hold Player 1 Start for approximately 4 seconds while turning on the cabinet, then follow the on-screen prompt to continue.
Are different lives settings kept on separate score tables?
Yes. Separate supported score tables are maintained for 2, 3, and 4 lives settings.
What is God Mode?
God Mode provides unlimited-lives practice. Score saving is disabled while God Mode is active.
What does Flip Screen do?
Flip Screen rotates the display for supported upside-down cabinet installations.
What does ROM Saver do?
ROM Saver allows designated original program ROMs to be removed when the kit is installed as directed in the Kangaroo installation guide.
Is Wi-Fi required?
No. Standard kits save supported scores locally. Wi-Fi is optional for qualifying online leaderboard support.
