The HighScoreSaves Gyruss Free Play and High Score Save Kit upgrades a compatible original Konami Gyruss arcade PCB with permanent Top 5 high score saving, Free Play, configurable on-screen settings, extended scoring, Fast Boot, Stealth Mode, ROM Saver support, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support while retaining the original arcade hardware and gameplay.
Gyruss Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when the original Z80 is already socketed. The original processor is removed from the game PCB, installed on the HighScoreSaves kit, and the completed assembly is installed in the original CPU socket. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a qualified arcade technician must install a 40-pin socket first.

The original compatible Z80 processor is reused and transferred to the HighScoreSaves kit during installation.
Standard vs. Wi-Fi Kit
Standard Kit
Permanently saves supported scores and settings locally on the installed arcade PCB. No internet connection is required for gameplay, Free Play, Fast Boot, Stealth Mode, ROM Saver, or local score saving.
Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local score-saving features and can also submit qualifying scores to the HighScoreSaves online leaderboard after player initials are entered.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving or normal gameplay.

How do I enter the Gyruss settings menu?
Hold Player 1 Start for approximately four seconds while turning on the cabinet, then follow the on-screen settings menu. The video above shows the available menu options and controls.
How many high scores does the Gyruss kit save?
The kit permanently stores the Top 5 supported high scores using battery-free serial EEPROM storage.
Does installation require soldering?
No soldering is required when the original Z80 CPU is already installed in a compatible 40-pin socket. If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a qualified arcade technician must install a socket first.
Does the Gyruss kit change the original gameplay?
No. The kit continues to use the original Konami arcade PCB, processor, controls, sound hardware, and game program rather than replacing or emulating the original game.
What is Extended Scoring?
Extended Scoring allows the supported score display to reach up to 9,999,990 points.
What does ROM Saver do?
ROM Saver supports removal of designated original program ROMs. Refer to the Gyruss installation guide for the correct ROM locations and installation procedure.
Will the Wi-Fi kit still save scores without Wi-Fi?
Yes. Local score saving and normal gameplay continue to work when Wi-Fi is disabled or unavailable.

Must have kit
Very happy that Highscoresaves makes kits for these classic arcade games. Ordered and received within a few days. Install guide is straight forward for an easy installation. The save kit works perfectly. Highly recommended!

Works great. Check your CPU socket.
Be sure to check your machine to see if you need a CPU socket. My Z80 was soldered to the board so I had to de-solder that first then add a 40 pin socket. Only took an extra 15 minutes or so, but keep that in mind when ordering. Machine booted right up and works as advertised.
Also the addition of this board requires you to add some height between the CPU and sound board. After that, it will no longer slide into the metal cage inside the machine. I used Amazon: "Nylon Hex Spacer Standoffs" and built a wood box for this to slide into as a replacement.
