HighScoreSaves Frogger Free Play and High Score Save Kit
Upgrade a compatible original Konami or Sega/Gremlin Frogger arcade PCB with Free Play, permanent Top 5 score and initials saving, menu-driven settings, separate score tables, ROM Saver functionality, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support.
This HighScoreSaves daughterboard continues to use the original Frogger PCB, Z80 processor, controls, game program, graphics hardware, sound hardware, and original gameplay. It is not an emulator, replacement PCB, or generic multicade system.
Compatibility & Requirements
HighScoreSaves Frogger Kit Features
Start Frogger without inserting coins while retaining normal coin operation when Free Play is disabled.
Permanently saves the five highest supported scores and player initials.
Serial EEPROM storage retains supported scores and settings without a backup battery or NVRAM.
Maintains independent supported score tables for two-, three-, and four-life configurations.
Adjust supported Frogger game and DIP-switch options through the on-screen kit menu.
Back up the current supported high score table and restore it when needed.
Keeps normal operation visually closer to the original game while retaining access to the kit menu.
Includes supported attract-screen and logo-display choices for the cabinet.
Supports removal of designated original program ROMs when using the documented ROM Saver configuration.
The Wi-Fi Enabled version can upload qualifying scores to supported HighScoreSaves online leaderboards.
Access the Frogger Settings Menu
With the cabinet turned off, hold Player 1 Start while turning on the cabinet. Continue holding the button for approximately four seconds, then follow the on-screen settings menu.

Verify compatible original Konami or Sega/Gremlin Frogger hardware using the documented 36-pin edge connector.
Locate the original Z80 processor and confirm that it is installed in a compatible 40-pin socket.
Carefully remove the compatible Z80 from the original PCB and install it into the daughterboard socket with Pin 1 correctly oriented.
Install the completed daughterboard into the vacated Z80 socket and verify every pin, socket position, and orientation before restoring power.

Is this the HighScoreSaves or Braze Frogger kit?
This page is for the Frogger kit designed and supported by HighScoreSaves. A separate Braze Technologies Frogger kit is also available.
Which Frogger PCBs are supported?
The kit is intended for documented compatible original Konami and Sega/Gremlin Frogger PCBs using the documented 36-pin edge connector.
How many scores are saved?
The kit permanently stores the Top 5 supported scores and player initials.
Does installation require soldering?
No soldering is required when the original Z80 is already installed in a compatible 40-pin socket. A soldered processor must be properly removed and socketed first.
Does the kit change Frogger gameplay?
No. The original Frogger PCB, processor, controls, game program, graphics hardware, sound hardware, and gameplay remain in use.
Can I add Wi-Fi later to a Standard Kit?
Standard kits do not include the required Wi-Fi hardware. Choose the Wi-Fi Enabled version when ordering if you want online score uploading unless a specific upgrade product is available for that kit.

Wireless online Frogger kit!
I recently upgraded to the wireless online kit after having the regular kit for a couple of years. Why would I do that? Bragging rights with the family. Whenever I get a new high score I send my family the link. It is worth the few extra dollars for the wireless online version just to be able to do that.
