The HighScoreSaves Fast Freddie Free Play and High Score Save Kit upgrades a documented compatible original Kaneko Fast Freddie arcade PCB with Free Play, permanent Top 10 high score saving, adjustable attract sounds, separate lives-based score tables, menu-driven settings, Backup and Restore, ROM Saver, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support while retaining the original arcade hardware, controls, sound, timing, and gameplay.
Fast Freddie Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when the original Z80 is already socketed. Remove the original Z80 from the Fast Freddie PCB, install it on the HighScoreSaves daughterboard, and install the assembled kit into the original Z80 socket. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a qualified arcade technician must install a compatible 40-pin socket before the kit can be used.

Standard vs. Wi-Fi Kit
Standard Kit
Saves supported high scores, settings, and configuration data locally. No internet connection is required for Fast Freddie gameplay, Free Play, local score saving, attract sounds, settings, Backup and Restore, or ROM Saver.
Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local features and can also submit qualifying scores to the HighScoreSaves online leaderboard.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving, Free Play, settings, attract sounds, Backup and Restore, ROM Saver, or normal gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

How do I enter the Fast Freddie settings menu?
With the game powered off, press and hold Player 1 Start while turning the game on. Release Player 1 Start when the on-screen prompt tells you to continue. The settings menu video above shows the available options and controls.
How many high scores does Fast Freddie save?
The kit permanently saves and displays the Top 10 supported high scores using battery-free serial EEPROM storage.
Are the high score tables separated by lives settings?
Yes. The kit maintains separate supported score tables for two-, three-, and four-life configurations.
Do the original program ROMs have to be removed?
No. Program ROM removal is optional. The installation guide allows the designated program ROMs to be removed when using the supported ROM Saver configuration.
Will the Wi-Fi kit still save scores if Wi-Fi is disabled?
Yes. Local score saving, Free Play, settings, attract sounds, Backup and Restore, ROM Saver, and normal Fast Freddie gameplay continue to work when Wi-Fi is disabled or unavailable.
