The HighScoreSaves Donkey Kong Jr. Free Play and High Score Save Kit upgrades a documented compatible original Nintendo Donkey Kong Jr. arcade PCB with Free Play, permanent Top 5 high score saving, selectable initials, adjustable attract sounds, US and Japan game revisions, practice tools, menu-driven settings, ROM Saver, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support while retaining the original Nintendo hardware and normal Donkey Kong Jr. gameplay.
Donkey Kong Jr. Compatibility & Requirements
Installation: Plug-in installation when the original Z80 is already socketed. Remove the original Z80 from the Nintendo Donkey Kong Jr. PCB, install it on the HighScoreSaves daughterboard, and install the assembled kit into the original Z80 socket. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a qualified arcade technician must install a compatible 40-pin socket before the kit can be used.

Standard vs. Wi-Fi Kit
Standard Kit
Permanently saves supported scores, initials, settings, and configuration data locally on the installed Donkey Kong Jr. kit. No internet connection is required.
Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
Includes the same local features and can also submit qualifying completed scores to the HighScoreSaves online leaderboard after initials are entered.
Wi-Fi can be disabled without affecting local score saving, Free Play, settings, stage selection, practice tools, or normal Donkey Kong Jr. gameplay. Wi-Fi-enabled kits use compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

How do I enter the Donkey Kong Jr. settings menu?
Hold Player 1 Start for approximately 4 seconds while turning on the cabinet, then follow the instructions shown on the screen. The settings menu video above shows the available options and controls.
Which Donkey Kong Jr. versions are supported?
The kit provides selectable supported United States and Japanese Donkey Kong Jr. game revisions. This is the standard Donkey Kong Jr. kit and does not add Donkey Kong Jr. Remix or the 3DKJr multigame.
What practice features are included?
Stage selection can begin play on Vines, Chains, Mario's Hideout, or Jump Pad. Supported practice settings include levels such as L=05 or L=09, and pressing Start during Practice Mode can reduce gameplay to half speed.
How are Donkey Kong Jr. high scores organized?
The kit permanently stores the Top 5 supported scores and maintains separate supported high score tables for two-, three-, four-, and five-life settings. Initial entry can be set to either three or 12 characters.
Will the Wi-Fi kit still save scores if Wi-Fi is disabled?
Yes. Local score and initials saving, Free Play, settings, stage selection, practice features, and normal gameplay continue to work when Wi-Fi is disabled or unavailable.

Must have kit
