What’s a Wi-Fi Enabled Kit or Standard Kit?

Choosing between a Wi-Fi Enabled Kit and a Standard Free Play and High Score Save Kit

This guide explains the differences, how Wi-Fi works, and how to set up your kit so you can build the perfect upgrade for your arcade cabinet.

Quick Overview

Wi-Fi Enabled High Score Save Kits preserve your scores on your cabinet and also upload them online for global, national, or local competition. You even get your own webpage for all your save kits!

Important

The Wi-Fi feature cannot be added after purchase.

Standard Kits do not include the required module, oscillator, socket, or status LEDs. There is no exchange program.

Choose Wi-Fi on your order — you'll be wondering why you didn't do it sooner!

Feature Wi-Fi Enabled Kit Standard Kit

How the Wi-Fi Version Works

During checkout, select the Wi-Fi Enabled option from the dropdown labeled “Make this WiFi Enabled to upload your scores?”.

After your kit ships, you will receive an email containing a few questions. Once answered, you'll receive your SK and PK keys plus your personalized online page link.

Your kit’s Wi-Fi module connects to your home router/modem. You’ll set it up once with your phone or tablet—after that, scores can upload automatically to arcadehighscores.com and to your personal scoreboard page.

  • View your high scores on your cabinet and your online scoreboard.
  • Compete globally, nationally, or keep it local in your game room.
  • Use multiple Wi-Fi-enabled games on the same network—your SK/PK keys remain the same with every compatible high score save kit.

Setting Up Your New Wi-Fi Kit

  1. Enter keys & enable online: In the kit menu, enter your SK and PK, then set online mode to ON-T.
  2. Join the kit network: On your phone/tablet, open Wi-Fi settings and connect to the kit’s SSID.
  3. Open Wi-Fi Manager: Go to 192.168.4.1 in your browser.
  4. Select your router: Choose your home Wi-Fi network (top of the list), enter its password, then tap SAVE.
  5. Watch messages: You may briefly see “Saving Credentials…” before it returns to “Saved.”.
  6. Wait ~1 minute: The kit will return to the attract screen or menu when connected.
  7. If not connected: Double-check the Wi-Fi password. Reset the module (hold reset ~5 seconds while powered), then repeat setup.

Troubleshooting Tips

Status Message Meaning
DHCP REQUEST The module is initializing and requesting an IP address. Normal during startup.
DHCP OK Successfully connected to your Wi-Fi and to www.arcadehighscores.com.
DHCP ERROR A / F The module couldn’t connect and entered setup mode. In this mode the red and green LEDs flash alternately. You have ~10 minutes to configure the kit before AP mode times out.
DNS ERROR A / D Connected to Wi-Fi but unable to reach the server. Common causes: SK/PK not yet added, incorrect keys, or permission issues. The red LED flashes rapidly during this error.

Common Questions

Can I add the online feature later?

No. Standard kits will not have the required hardware or module. High score save kits cannot be upgraded or exchanged, so choose Wi-Fi the first order, you'll be wondering why you didn't do it sooner!

Where will my scores appear?

On arcadehighscores.com and on your personal game page provided after activation. Of course, your scores will always be on your cabinet itself.

Do I get one set of keys for all Wi-Fi kits?

Yes. Your SK/PK keys are the same across all your Wi-Fi Enabled Kits.

Does Wi-Fi affect gameplay or performance?

No. The module uploads scores in the background and only sends a quick 3kb block to the server immediately after entering your initials. It does not impact the game or your internet. It does not keep a constant internet communication.

Does it use 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi Enabled Kits operate on 2.4GHz networks for maximum compatibility with your modem/router.
