What’s a Wi-Fi Enabled Kit or Standard Kit?

Choose between a Standard Free Play and High Score Save Kit or a Wi-Fi Enabled Kit with online score uploading and global leaderboard support. This guide explains the differences, setup process, online features, and what to expect before ordering.

Important Before Ordering

  • Wi-Fi functionality cannot be added later.
  • Standard Kits do not include the required Wi-Fi hardware, oscillator, socket, or status LEDs.
  • There is no exchange or upgrade program for converting a Standard Kit to Wi-Fi later.
  • Most customers who choose Wi-Fi wish they had done it sooner.

How the Wi-Fi Version Works

During checkout, select the Wi-Fi Enabled option from the dropdown labeled:

“Make this WiFi Enabled to upload your scores?”

After your kit ships, you’ll receive an email titled:

Once completed, you'll receive your personal SK and PK keys plus your custom online scoreboard page.

Setting Up Your Wi-Fi Kit

Step 1 — Enter SK & PK Keys

Enter your Security Key (SK) and Product Key (PK) in the kit menu, then set online mode to ON-T.

Step 2 — Connect to the Kit Network

Open your phone or tablet Wi-Fi settings and connect to the kit’s temporary Wi-Fi SSID.

Step 3 — Open Wi-Fi Manager

Open your browser and go to: 192.168.4.1

Step 4 — Select Your Home Network

Choose your home Wi-Fi network, enter the password, then press SAVE.

Step 5 — Wait for Connection

After approximately one minute, the kit will reconnect and return to the attract screen or menu automatically.

Step 6 — If It Doesn’t Connect

Double-check your Wi-Fi password. If needed, hold the reset button for approximately 5 seconds while powered on and repeat setup.

Troubleshooting Messages

Status Message Meaning
DHCP REQUEST The Wi-Fi module is initializing and requesting an IP address. This is normal during startup.
DHCP OK Successfully connected to your Wi-Fi network and online server.
DHCP ERROR A / F The module could not connect and entered setup mode. Red and green LEDs alternate during this state.
DNS ERROR A / D Connected to Wi-Fi but unable to reach the server. Common causes include incorrect SK/PK keys or permissions not yet added.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add the online feature later?

No. Standard Kits do not include the required hardware, module, or LEDs. Wi-Fi functionality cannot be added after purchase.

Where will my scores appear?

Scores appear directly on your arcade cabinet and online at hss.arcadehighscores.com along with your personal scoreboard page.

Do all my Wi-Fi kits use the same keys?

Yes. Your SK and PK keys remain the same across all compatible Wi-Fi Enabled Kits.

Does Wi-Fi affect gameplay or performance?

No. The module uploads a very small data packet after entering initials and does not impact gameplay or maintain constant internet communication.

Does the module use 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi Enabled Kits operate on standard 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks for maximum compatibility.
